I'm especially interested in linear ways of representing form, usually through urban and architectural subject-matter.

I’ve recently become preoccupied with capturing the experience of a look that travels a long way up and down a space, through compositions encompassing a large angle of vision. Sometimes I explore this through strict linear perspective, assuming a single vertical picture-plane. Sometimes I change the picture-plane at particular ‘seams’ in the composition.

My most recent work seeks to incorporate obviously imaginative or fantastical elements into a rigorously observed and constructed space. Put another way, my work seeks to collapse supposed distinctions between observational drawing and illustration.

I also have a musical background, and my more experimental illustration work attempts to combine these two areas of expertise (see the 'illustrative scores' section of the portfolio).
